Lai Hsuan-Yu Claims Inaugural PS Main Event Title
The inaugural Players Series Main Event has reached its dramatic conclusion, and it is ๐น๐ผ Lai Hsuan-Yu who etches his name in history. Following a heads-up deal, Lai storms back from behind to overcome ๐น๐ผ Chen Sin Lan, locking up an ICM payout of TWD 1,884,000 (~US$57,950) and the PS Main Event trophy.
โThis is the dream of every poker player, to win a big event, and I’m glad to have the chance to win it.โ

Preparation Meets Opportunity
The final table begins with ๐น๐ผ He Zong Chi holding the largest stack, bringing both experience and presence to the stage. Lai later admits the challenge is real, but preparation proves crucial.
โI see some ICM situation last night (Day 3) and try to imagine what I will encounter today. So I think that preparation gave me more confidence to handle it. I’ve played a lot of final tables before online and I would save the hands and review them. I try to exploit every player. Some players play tight and some players play aggressive. I just adjust my strategy against different players.โ
At eight-handed, Lai faces a defining moment. His pocket queens run into aces, and elimination loomsโuntil a queen appears on the board, flipping the script and breathing life back into his run.
โWhen I bad beat aces with queens, if that didn’t happen I would have been done there. So that gave me a little light that maybe I will win this tournament.โ
Heads-Up Comeback
Heads-up play sees Lai entering at a 2:1 deficit against Chen. Undeterred, he increases the tempo, applying pressure and mixing in bluffs to keep his opponent guessing.
โI regard her (Chen Sin Lan) as a relatively tight player, so I just try to play aggressive. And when I have big hands, I also like to play as a bluff to make her confused. So I think on the last hand, she jammed 40 bigs with pocket threes I think that’s because I opened so many hands. So she would make that decision.โ
Momentum shifts, key pots fall his way, and the comeback is complete. With composure, preparation, and resilience under pressure, ๐น๐ผ Lai Hsuan-Yu stands alone as the first Players Series Main Event champion.
